Morgan on yesterday captured Wm Newman of Witcalf, having staid (sic) all night at Sampson Jones in said county 14 miles from Columbia and after robbing Newman of goods and two negroes returned with all or nearly all his forces to Glasgow where he gave a pass to Mr. Smith a reliable man to pass his lines. Forrest advanced guard joined him last night. Forrest with his entire force today a few of Morgans may have gone to Columbia. I am satisfied his main force is now in Glasgow or he & Forrest have left this evening.
