The John H. Bullard Collection

Scope and Content:

Photographs, letters, documents and books relating mainly to President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Bullard served in World War I in President Truman's regiment and maintained photos, documents and letters relating to the president, their association, and to their military reunions.



The James B. Frazier, Jr. Collection

Scope and Content:
James B. Frazier, Jr. (1890-1978) was a United States Attorney, Eastern District of Tennessee (1933-1948), and U.S. Representative, Third Congressional District of Tennessee (1949-1963). Scrapbooks, documents, correspondence, photos, pamphlets, and campaign literature relating to his service as U.S. Attorney and Congressman (1933-1963). Some tax records and personal correspondence.

The Olive Hunt Collection contains weekly news releases (The LaMar Baker Newsletter) maintained by Mrs. Hunt during the period of time in which she managed the press liaison office for Congressman LaMar Baker.

The Marilyn Lloyd Papers
MS 025 130 linear feet Date Range: 1974-1994
Scope and Content:
A Democrat elected to the 94th Congress in 1974 and reelected to each succeeding Congress until she retired in 1994. She served on the following Congressional committees: House Armed Services Committee; Select Committee on Aging; Subcommittee on Housing and Consumer Affairs (Chair); House Science, Space and Technology Committee; Subcommittee on Energy Research and Development (Chair); TVA Caucus; and Textile Caucus. Press clips; Floor information from each Congressional session; her voting record; legislative correspondence; subject files; district projects; speeches; and files relating to the Armed Services Committee and miscellaneous other legislative activities.



The Frank Prescott Papers
MS 034 75 linear feet Date Range: 1920-1981
Scope and Content:

Dr. Frank Prescott (1896-1981) was a Political science professor, University of Chattanooga (1928-1967); delegate to four Tennessee Constitutional Conventions. Materials cover state constitutional revisions, executive veto (esp. New York), civil rights, communism and the red scare (including McCarthyism), campaign memorabilia and ephemera, government organization, municipal government, Tennessee state and local politics, and World War II letters and Nazi newspapers from former students in military service.




The John H. Rous Collection
MS 065 8 linear feet Date Range: 1941-1971
Scope and Content:
John H. Rous (1912-1995) was a Chattanooga native and a photographer who worked for the Washington Times, 1934-1938; Washington Times-Herald, 1939-1944; and was an Associated Press photographer, 1944-1971. He was a member of the White House News Photographer Association and served as its President, 1958-1959. Photographs (many signed) of American presidents, world leaders and celebrities, including Winston Churchill, Presidents Franklin Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon; celebrities Lucille Ball, Maureen O'Hara, Roy Rogers, James Cagney, and Queen Elizabeth.



The Joel Solomon Collection
MS 038 12 linear feet Date Range: 1976-1979
Scope and Content:
Mr. Joel Solomon (1922-1984) was the head of the General Services Administration under President Carter, from 1977-1979. Previous to that, he had served as chairman of the Human Resources Committee of the Greater Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce; Chief Executive Officer of the Arlen Shopping Centers of Chattanooga; Senior Vice President and board member of the Arlen Realty and Development Corporation. The collection consists primarily of his Washington Papers as Head of the GSA.
