Indianapolis Mch. 5 1867 Hon. Hugh McCulloch Secy of the Treasurey Washington D.C. Sir: The undersigned bankers and business-men of Indiana, earnestly recommend John T. Wilder, of Greensburgh, for appointment as Collector of Revenue for the 4th Cong. Dist. of Inda. Genl. Wilder is a thorough business-man and in every respect is well fitted for the position. We know of no man in the district whose appointment would give more general satisfaction. Col. Gavin, recently nominated, was rejected and as yet no one has been appointed to fill the vacancy. We therefore beg to ask your early consideration of Col. Wilder’s claims to that office. Very Respectfully, Your Obt. Servants A.R. Forsyth Geo. Tonrey James McRay D.E. Rees Lawrenceburg, Ind. T.
