WILDER’S BRIGADE

PRINCETON, IND., Sept. 29th 1885

My Dear Sir:
The Committee on programme asked me to write you and say that they had put you down for response to the address of Welcome, in a short speech on the occasion of the Reunion.  Speech making is not to be a prominent feature of occasion but a little indulgence in that line cannot well be dispensed with.

Aside from our old Command we expect there will be present good representatives of the regiments raised in this section of the country.  No person of higher rank than yourself is expected to be present - so far as I know now none are invited.  The aim of the management has been to get a good turn out of rank and file.

We have varied assurance from great numbers of the 98th & 123 now - officers and men - that will be here - also from 72nd.

It would be great disoppointment (sic) to all who come and to our citizens to have you fail to come, we are asked daily as to the possibilities of your being here I invariably reply to such inquiries that no ordinary cause will burden you.

Let me know about what time you will reach here.  (Illegible) are aware of course of the route by the way of Evansville.  It is much more direct than the Louisville route. The Nashville & Chicago train reachin (sic) here at 7:40 P.M. Should you wish to come by Louisville take the St. Louis

(illegible) five there.

My wife would be glad to have your daughter who was with you at Robinson come with you.  We want to have the pleasure of entertaining you at our home and any of your family that may come with you.

Truly Yrs.- S.E. Munford

Don’t let the speech worry you, an offhanded from five minutes upward will be your privelge (sic).
