I Calvin Hungerford & Israel Buell each severally agree to furnish John T. Wilder the

sum of six thousand dollars on condition that the said Wilder secures to Orange

Township Rush County credits for twelve (12) three years enlistments to be credited

on the present call for 900,000 men.

To whom it may Concern:

Be it known that Col. John T. Wilder late of 17th Regt. Inda. Volunteers, is hereby appointed Chief Recruiting Agent for the State of Indiana to recruit volunteers in State in rebellion to be credited to such sub-districts within their State as may not have filled their quotas under the Presidents call of Dec. 19, 1865* and who make application to said Chief Recruiting Agent to have their deficiencies supplied. Said recruiting to be carried on in all respects in strict accordance with existing military orders and restrictions.

Said Chief Recruiting Agent is further empowered to employ and authorize, by proper written appointment, such temporary assistants as he may require in transacting the business hereby entrusted to him, he being responsible for their good conduct. Said assistants shall strictly conform to all existing rules and regulations relating to their branch of the recruiting service.
