New Albany Oct. 7th 1863

Dear Colnel (sic)

I write to remind you of your promise to let me know certainly when you will start back to the Command. I am anxious to accompany you on your return if possible- and hope to be able to do so. I have been quite unwell since my return, been confined to bed but am now about the room. My friend “sawbones” say that I will not be able to go next Monday, but I think that I know better than he. How are you getting along- remember me kindly to your family & excuse the brevity of this note. I find that I am none too strong.

Very Respectfully

Your Friend

Green T. Shields
