There are also photographs of presidents including Herbert Hoover, Calvin Coolidge, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. Many of the pictures are signed. The display will be on the first floor of Lupton Library and can be viewed during normal library hours. Please visit this site for more information. Andy Warhol Photograph Collection Acquired by the University The Department of Art at UTC is the recent recipient of a collection of polaroid and silver gelatin print photographs from noted American pop artist Andy Warhol (1928-1987). The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in New York City has awarded 183 college and university art museums a total of 28,543 original Warhol photographs. UTC received 150 of these photographs in a special boxed set, which includes portraits of Warhol's friends and acquaintances, as well as some celebrities. The collection is stored in the Special Collections of Lupton Library and may be viewed during regular Special Collections hours on request.
Rare Civil War Book Acquired by the Special Collections The Special Collections recently acquired a rare book on the Civil War, titled My Grandfather's Diary of the War, containing writings by Carroll H. Clark (1842-1931), who served in Co. I of the Sixteenth Regiment of the Tennessee Volunteers of the CSA. The book was privately published in 1963, during the Civil War's centennial, and features articles Clark wrote around 1918 for several Tennessee newspapers, including The Spencer Times and The Sparta Expositor. For reference, Clark used a diary, now lost, that he kept during the war. The book features facsimiles of Clark's own handwriting as he recalled the war fifty years after it ended, including area battles such as the battle of Chickamauga. Mr. and Mrs. Al Mooneyham, of Hixson, Tennessee, donated this book, in honor of their granddaughter, Brittany Michelle Smith, UTC class of 2008.
