Available Software

Library PCs:
There are approximately 50 PCs in the Lupton Library that are all equipped with the following software. In addition to these PCs, there are also several Research PCs on the ground floor that have limited access to the library's databases and websites with certain domains (.edu, .gov).

Library Wireless Laptop Checkout:
The Lupton Library also offers student checkout of wireless laptops for in-Library use only. There are 18 laptops available and they can be checked out at the Circulation Desk using your MOCS card. These laptops allow wireless access to the Internet from anywhere in the Library, and include Microsoft Office applications. Use of these laptops must be in accordance with the Library's Wireless Laptop Checkout Policy and Computing Resources Use Policy.

Access Policies for Library PCs:
Use of Library PCs with full internet access is restricted to users with either UTCIDs and passwords or valid Lupton Library Courtesy Cards. Research PCs with limited access to the library's databases and websites within certain domains (.edu, .gov) are available for other groups of users.

Alumni or Visiting Scholars
Under certain circumstances, alumni can apply for a UTCID and password through the Alumni Office. Alumni who have received UTCIDs may use the public PCs in the Library or use their personal laptops to access the UTC wireless network. Alumni without UTCIDs and passwords can still be logged on to library PCs by presenting their alumni card at the Reference Desk.

Guests who have a valid Lupton Library Courtesy Card can use Library PCs with full internet access but they need to stop at the Reference Desk and present their Courtesy Card and a picture ID in order to be logged on by a librarian.

Guests who do not have Courtesy Cards may use the Research PCs located in the carrels just behind the Reference Desk to access library resources and sites at selected domains (those ending in .edu and .gov).

Guests with Personal Laptops cannot currently logon to the UTC Network in the Library. Access to the UTC Networks is limited to those with UTCIDs and passwords.
