The Scenic City of Chattanooga, Tennessee has inspired many photographs and postcards to attract visitors and to show off the city's attractions. This online exhibit features early 20th century postcards from the Special Collections of Lupton Library, showing downtown sites, as well as outlying areas such as Lookout Mountain, Moccasin Bend, Signal Mountain, and the local Civil War battlefields and monuments.

Lookout Mountain extends from Chattanooga to Gadsden, Alabama, nearly eighty miles away. The northern end of Lookout Mountain is visible from downtown Chattanooga, and holds landmarks such as Point Lookout, Umbrella Rock, and Lulah Falls.

The above downtown scenes of Chattanooga show some of the landmarks and buildings of the city. The train terminal still stands today but Old Main, the original campus building of Chattanooga University built in 1886, was razed in 1917.
